The vibe
A lot of places try to create a certain vibe in the dining area, with varying degrees of success. Where Mimi’s does a great job is in creating an atmosphere with a genuine New Orleans feel. Exposed brick walls, high wood-beamed ceilings and elaborate chandeliers help set the tone. One of the two dining rooms has faux balconies hung on the walls at each end, decked out with small tables and chairs, and musical paraphernalia like upright bases and tubas. The eclectic wall decorations range from vintage signs to an alligator head adorned with Mardi Gras beads. The bar is a cozy area near the main entrance, with about a half dozen seats and a large television.
