The grub
The menu at Carolina Ale House is chock-full of some serious, stick-to-your-ribs (and the area around them) stuff. Appetizer selections include buffalo beer-battered shrimp and jumbo chicken wings, half the salads have meat in them, the sandwich section includes meat-heavy delights like the classic Philly cheese steak and the blackened London broil, the burgers and flatbread pizzas pile on the toppings, and there are great steak, seafood and rib entrees as well.
My first selection was a half-order of the Ale House chili nachos, and it was nearly my last order. If this is a half-order, the full plate must be visible from space. It was a huge, gooey, hulking mass of homemade chili, cheese sauce, jalapenos, black olives, chopped green onions, scallions and sour cream that, considering the amount of spicy ingredients involved, was surprisingly mild, but it was rich and delicious at the same time. This was a definite eats-like-a-meal appetizer.
