Writing a review about The Peddler in 2010 in Greenville is like writing about The Beatles; what could I possibly add? Serving some of the best food and one of the most pleasant dining atmospheres around for 40+ years, The Peddler, located just off Poinsett Highway near Cherrydale, is as much of an institution in the Upstate as the Hyatt or Horizon Records or that period between 5:07 p.m. and 5:23 p.m. every weekday when traffic comes to a total standstill on 385. On the other hand, maybe it's time for a reassessment. Does this classic steakhouse have what it takes to please today’s Upstate folks who have countless more options for dining out than they did when The Peddler opened in 1969?
