When I first arrived at Brick City Grille, it was quite busy, so I had to wait a few minutes before the hostess appeared to seat me. On the way to my table, I spotted a nice bar as well as an area for live entertainment. I was impressed by the ample seating, and the patrons appeared to be enjoying themselves. As for the food, the complimentary garlic bread was excellent. The entree that I chose was salmon topped with caramel and slivers of almond, which gave it a uniquely sweet flavor. The baked potato was not great, but overall the experience was to my liking.

A brick is a solid foundation, a city is a happening place, and a grille is a place to eat and socialize. Brick City Grille is appropriately named. The “bricks” included prompt, friendly service; an upscale but down-home atmosphere; a menu with a wide variety of options; and tasty food. (I found my salad, seasoned with pepper just to my taste by the waiter, to be wonderful.) The “city” includes a view of nearby suburbia against the backdrop of the mountains. The happenings include seven televisions carrying a variety of games; friends chatting at the bar; business leaders dealing at a table, and a romantic couple getting away from their cares. The “grille” includes servers smiling and black-and-white pictures of the Greenville area. Brick City Grille—the name says it all!

My dinner at Brick City Grille was an OK meal. The evening I was there, they had live acoustic music, which set a very relaxing scene. My meal started with BBQ nachos, which I haven’t had since being in Memphis, and these brought me back to that time. The serving was just enough for two or three to share. I skipped the salad and went straight for the steak. The presentation was excellent, although the flavor left a lot to be desired. The baked potato was very good, but the steak was disappointing. The sauce that was served on it tasted a little sour and not at all like the description we were given. I was let down by the meal, but will likely return thanks to the friendly staff and appetizers.

Brick City Grille is a stylish neighborhood eatery with big-city bistro appeal. The ambiance is just right for a nice date or a business outing and is a pleasant step up from the usual neighborhood grill. The spillover energy from the crowded bar compliments the dark, intimate dining area and gives the restaurant an alluring, upscale sense of place without being stuffy. My nine-ounce filet was better-than-average fare, but not good enough to enthusiastically share with companions or to plan a return trip for. It was cooked to order with no glaring missteps, but little joy of discovery either. It seems that Brick City is more about serving cocktails than food.

Felicia, sounds to me like you're more disappointed by the sauce than the steak itself. Brad, colorful description! Do you work for them??? :)
