Best of Metromix Greenville 2012Burger
For lots of restaurants, burgers serve as a sort of barometer for the rest of the menu—if the burger doesn't rock your face off, there's probably not a lot of hope for everything else. You can gussy them up with Kobe beef or pimento cheese, mushrooms, grilled onion or teriyaki sauce, but the best ones all have one thing in common—a tasty, juicy patty o' red meat. Grille 33s menu boasts a dozen burgers, each named after streets in downtown Greenville. From The Augusta, served with jalapeo pepper jack cheese, avocado and cilantro mayo, to The Poinsett, which sports a fried egg and bacon on top along with cheddar cheese, these are not your everyday burgers. Look for The Stone, which is served on a doughnut.

This burger place prides itself on delivering "not just another burger"they specialize in using unique ingredients like teriyaki sauce and onion rings on their patties. Liberty Tap Room's burgers board features burgers made with Angus beef. There's a classic burger with lettuce and tomato or burgers a little more adventurous like the Freedom Burger served with cheddar, bacon, a fried egg, lettuce and tomato. There's also the Red, White and Bleu, which is dusted with Cajun-style spices, bleu cheese crumbles, bleu cheese dressing and onion straws.

Mac's Drive In

Clemson, SC 29631This burger joint, a true Clemson classic icon, is ideal for anyone's meaty craving. Acting as one of Clemson's most loveable dives, Mac's Drive-In also offers milkshakes and soda. Located away from town but worth the drive.

Chicora Alley

Chicora Alley's menu features a wide variety of dishes from tacos to pork medallions. But their lineup of burgers gets lots of points for originality. Their regular ol' burger is served with pico de gallo and guacamole. And then we get to specialty burgers like the Mideast Burger, which is served on pita bread. It's Angus beef topped with black bean and red pepper hummus, pico, cucumbers and a spicy sriracha/ranch sauce.
