The case for: Yes’ dense, deft and orchestral sounds, as heard on 1971’s “Roundabout” and “I've Seen All Good People,” helped forge progressive rock. Their hydra-headed in-concert flights have inspired the noodling of countless latter-day jam bands.
The case against: Thus far, prog rockers appear to be pretty low on voters’ priority list. And we may be off base here, but there also appears to be a hall bias against high-pitched rock singers, of which classic-lineup Yes singer Jon Anderson most certainly is one. (See also: Rush.)
