LFO with a famous fan: Jamie Lynn Sigler of 'The Sopranos,' backstage in 2001
Sad news hit the pop music world this week, as LFO lead singer Rich Cronin died Wednesday, Sep. 9 at the age of 36 after a long battle with leukemia. Cronin, best-remembered for his group's 1999 smash hit "Summer Girls," was also LFO's principle songwriter. After he was diagnosed with leukemia in 2005, Cronin became a tireless advocate for prevention and treatment of the disease, launching the Rich Cronin Hope Foundation to encourage blood and bone marrow donors. He also released a solo album, "Billion Dollar Sound," in 2008, and appeared on VH1's "Mission: Man Band," a reality show featuring former boy band members.
