Lindstrøm, 'Six Cups of Rebel'
The third album from Norwegian dance producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm is a pretty uptempo affair, although don’t expect any straightforward house tracks from a guy who cites Bach and Deep Purple among his many influences. Lead single “De Javu” sounds like an outtake from some prog-rockers’ 1978 stab at making a disco record, with arpeggiated synths and filtered vocals swelling to mock-operatic heights. The set’s liveliest number, ironically, is called “Quiet Place to Live.” If quiet is what you’re looking for, Lindstrøm can’t really help you. –AH
