Juliette Lewis (New Romantiques)
Main claim to fame: Playing spree killer Mallory Knox in Oliver Stone’s “Natural Born Killers,” as well as any number of other eccentric and/or mentally challenged characters in films like “Kalifornia,” “The Other Sister” and “Romeo Is Bleeding.”
Indie credentials: Lewis’ first band, Juliette and the Licks, released two albums and an EP’s worth of noisy, amped-up garage-rock before disbanding earlier this year; their final album, “Four on the Floor,” featured Dave Grohl on drums. Her new band, the New Romantiques, are set to release their debut album in late 2009; it was produced by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of the Mars Volta.
What the critics are saying: “…it's hard not to shake the feeling that Grohl gives an illusion of substance this aggressively shallow music doesn't quite deserve.” – All Music Guide
Random factoid: Lewis is the voice of Juliette, one of the radio DJs featured in the videogame “Grand Theft Auto IV.”
