Soundgarden, Pavement and Hole are back...why not these late lamented '90s icons?
Not long ago, it was Pixies, My Bloody Valentine and Stone Temple Pilots ruling the musical comeback news cycle. This year, it's a reunited Soundgarden headlining Lollapalooza. But no matter how you slice and dice the sonics, compelling bands that broke in the '90s are thankfully power-popping up in the headlines again. Whether they're here to stay or just cash in is yet to be decided. But their reunions will hopefully clear the way for the possible returns of these other excellent bands from that decade (like Ben Folds Five, pictured). Come back, guys! Everyone's doing it. — Scott Thill, Special to Metromix
