Woody Allen as Alvy Singer in "Annie Hall"
When movie fans think of amorous nerds, the image of bespectacled, nervously stammering Woody Allen springs to mind. In his most iconic role, Allen plays Alvy, a comedian whose neuroses pose a constant threat to his relationship with quirky free spirit Annie (Diane Keaton). Although Alvy and Annie’s union ends in bittersweet fashion, the film still serves as inspiration to those who have spent more time on the therapist’s couch than at the gym and who fare better spouting witticisms than winning tennis matches.
