Eddie Murphy, "Norbit"
Murphy’s big-screen bid to play every single character in 2000’s “Nutty Professor II” was an inspired bit of mayhem. A few years later, Hollywood attempted to recapture that lightning in a bottle with the woefully misguided “Norbit,” a crass and offensive skewering of a lonely, orphaned man. Left on the doorstep of the Golden Wonton Restaurant and Orphanage, Norbit (Murphy) is adopted by a racist Asian restaurateur (Murphy) and grows up to find himself married—almost against his will—to the 400-pound Rasputia (Murphy), a vulgar and vile wife who relishes every chance to crush her mate. As a comedian, Murphy has always loved going for broke, but in “Norbit” he loses the gamble.
