"Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome"
In this third adventure starring Mel Gibson’s post-apocalyptic hero, Max matches wits with the power-mad leader (Tina Turner, no less) of makeshift civilization Bartertown, where quarrels are settled by to-the-death battles offered up for spectators in an arena called the Thunderdome. Although the combatants are allowed weapons, they’re hindered by stretchy elastic bands tied around them.
Real-world potential: It’s been centuries since such fierce gladiatorial combat was dominant consumer entertainment (unless you count MMA matches, or “Gladiator”), but considering the funny ways in which history repeats itself, the Thunderdome skirmishes aren’t too farfetched.
