"Due Date" is the latest movie to hit the road

The great American road trip. It’s a timeless cultural staple, built on the promise of adventure, discovery and renewal.
In the movies, hitting the open road often takes the form of madcap comedies. That's true of “Due Date,” the latest from "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips. It stars Robert Downey Jr. as a father-to-be and Zach Galifianakis as an absent-minded would-be-movie-star. They drive from Atlanta to Los Angeles, bumbling their way across the amber waves of grain.
What better time to pay tribute to Hollywood’s most unforgettable road trips?
