Anthony Hopkins in "Red Dragon"
Why it's age-inappropriate: Something’s clearly off when one of the most acclaimed film actors reprises his most famous role and yet his bad hair dye and evident man boobs keep getting in the way of the silky cadence of his line readings. But what else can be expected when Hopkins plays a younger version of a character—brilliant madman Dr. Hannibal “the Cannibal” Lecter—he won an Oscar for a decade earlier, a time when Hopkins was much leaner and more naturally dark-haired?
Alternate casting suggestion: Jude Law or Cillian Murphy could have aced the sinister persuasiveness of a young Lecter.
