St. Patty's Day in the Upstate

St. Patrick’s Day is arguably one of the greatest days of the year. Everyone looks beyond race and pretends to be Irish and drinks. Beer is plentiful. The weather is Springy.

And if that weren’t enough, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day fall on the first Downtown Alive of the year—insert your own ‘luck of the Irish’ joke here.

McGee’s St. Patrick’s Day party will include Irish food and music, green beer, drink specials and a bouncy castle for the kids. They also have a limerick-writing contest, with the prize being a year of free beer. You can get your wristband for $3 or for three bars of Irish Spring, which will go to Anderson Interfaith Ministries.

Blarney Bash
The annual block party takes place outside Connolly’s Irish Pub. There will bands outside and inside the bar, plus plenty of beer. Bring some non-perishable food or money to the Link and Metromix table to enter to win two tickets to Taste of the Nation. All donations go toward

The Brown Street Club will have $3 green pints, bangers and mash, shepard’s pie and fish and chips.  Craig Sorrells Project and Gypsy souls will play. The Brown Street Club is hosting Tip for a Cure as well—all tips recieved between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. will be donated to Catwalk Cure, a nonprofit fundraising event for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
