Of all the bars in Clemson, Nick’s Tavern might just be the one with the most loyal following. The small, dark bar is known for it’s eclectic beer list (a rotating 30 beers on 18 taps and 70 bottled beers) and a crowd that’s just as eclectic; You’ll find undergrad students, grad students, faculty and staff, and even alumni who remain true to their old haunt. Nick’s is even known for drawing a crowd of Greenvillians willing to make the nearly 45-minute drive to pull up a stool at this top-notch bar. If you’re not familiar with the crowd, that’s OK. Nick’s encourages the building of friendships; You can drop in and buy your buddy a beer for the next time they stop in. Just check the board behind the bar, where you may find your name. If you do, just let the bartender know, and you can claim your brew. And don’t forget the food. On the menu you’ll find a variety of tasty options, including wings, burgers, veggie burgers and hummus. Your best bet, however, may be the warm, delicious spinach-artichoke dip.
